Love at Work

So here is a topic that is often whispered or not even discussed: relationships at work. There are no particular set rules of what to do or not to do with regards to matters of the heart at your place of employment. But one thing is definitely for sure, if there is talk of a relationship in the office everyone there will know about it!

So what should you do if a love affair should begin to fluster between you and a co-worker? Here are a few things that should help you keep it straight and keep your job.

The number one rule is to keep it professional. If you wouldn’t talk a certain way to any other co-worker do not talk that way to the person you are dating either. That means no pet names, no secret meetings, private phone calls or anything else that may be in the gray area.

Also, it may be a good idea to keep it a secret until you are sure that this person has real potential. If you date someone and then it doesn’t work out there will surely be a thread of rumors that will be hard to quiet and better kept personal from the get go.

Another thing to consider, as much as you may trust your best friend at work, if you are going to tell one person you may as well tell them all. Rumors and juicy gossip have a way of slipping out. Whether its on purpose or completely by accident its not great to be the center of bad attention so either keep it to yourself or don’t keep it a secret at all.

Taking a Break from Online Dating

If you think that online dating seriously differs from dating and meeting people face to face then you are mistaken, at least when it comes to “playing hard to get” the newest trend that is reported by those that date online is that people that they are talking to claim to be taking a break from online dating.

What does taking a break from online dating mean exactly? Reportedly it means suspending your profile for a while so that you appear as though you are doing other things or are currently off the market. The only funny part is that you appear with the identical profile only weeks later to scope out the new scene.

What these “breakers” are doing is really letting themselves have a chance to appear busy and wait a while to see if new and different people join the site.

Online dating on one site is similar to going to the same bar night after night. After a while you become a regular and everyone there knows who you are and why you are there.

Of course there is those that have exceptions such as people that are going on vacation or have legitimately found someone, either through the site or otherwise.
But for those that continue to play the game, chances are that the other regulars know the game and are likely guilty of either doing the same thing at some point or planning on it.
