There are many people that have a slightly skewed view on romance. Of course you want to fall in love and have the happily ever after that you so often see in a Hollywood romance film. Unfortunately that is sometimes not the case in all situations and it is important to set your expectations accordingly.
The problem is there are often young singles out there searching for true romance and while there is nothing wrong with that, the truth is there are many movies that lead you to believe that romance is actually something out of the norm and that for a true connection one must have roses, lavish hotel rooms and spur of the moment trips to Paris.
While many do have experience with relationships and do know that that once in lifetime is a very special feeling, others believe that this will happen to them with the next person that they meet.
Online dating has opened many doors to those seeking to meet the perfect match. If a motion picture romance is what you are looking for you can very well specify this in your profile and hope that either your princess or your prince are the next reader, but don’t hold your breath because that guy (or gal) next door just might make you way happier in the long run!

There is a reason that there is a saying “Things happen when you least expect it” and the same goes for meeting that special someone. Some people put all their efforts and energy into finding that special person to spend the rest of their lives with but the truth is sometimes it is okay to take a little break and wait for that special person to come along.
If you are not focusing your efforts solely on meeting a person than you may be likely to do other things that you enjoy and perhaps run into a person that you never planned on meeting. This could happen online while in a chat room or even when you are taking your dog for a walk.
It is said that if you focus all the time on meeting someone you may be masking your true self and turning away people that could have been a great match for you. If you try to simply stay true to yourself and make time to enjoy the things you love than love will find you.
Chances are you won’t be alone forever, so it is okay to take time off from finding that special someone here and there but if you are looking for a good way to meet someone quickly than going online and creating an online dating profile is a good idea. But keep in mind you may need to meet a few special someone’s before you find the perfect one!

So you have chatted online, through emails and maybe even on the telephone and you are finally ready to meet that special someone face to face for the first time. Chances are that since you have decided to take this step you quite like each other and are excited to meet this person: take a step back, you can be excited but do not hype your expectations to high because you may be unfortunately disappointed.
If you walk in there with normal expectations then you can be pleasantly surprised if things go well and only gentle upset if they don’t.
There are a few steps you should always follow when you have plans to meet someone from an online dating service for the first time. You should always plan to make the first few encounters at a very public location such as a shopping mall or a busy coffee shop, it would also be ideal to do this during daylight. Many people do not turn out to be who they actually claim to be and often times your intuition tells you to cut it short, it is much easier to do this in public than at someone’s home or another private location.
And last but certainly not least it is very important that a few of your closest contacts know exactly where you are. Call your best friend, your brother, even your mother and let them know where you plan to be that night, at what time, with whom and what time you plan to be home.
Chances are that if you have a great connection it will continue on but it is absolutely better to be safe than sorry.

There were several thoughts that online dating was becoming more and more popular but not the stats are confirmed. Online dating is on the rise since the beginning of the recession.
Online dating has been around for a bit of time now, and although it is a new industry in comparison to consumer packaged goods it is still one that people have accepted into their daily lives.
In the UK, online dating has shown some serious pick up since the pickup (or rather down turn) of the recession. From September 2008 until February 2009, a matter of only 5 months, online dating grew by 13% and reached 13% of the online population within the UK.
Reports showed that both men and women were equally as like to partake in the online shopping of significant others. Those that did go online searching for love would spend roughly 4 hours a month doing so at a maximum.
Those that weren’t as keen on the idea but showed at least slight interest spent an hour per month in total.
Online dating is now considered “a safe and interesting way to meet new people” by many of those that were asked to comment on what they thought by choosing a statement that best reflected their opinion on the subject at hand.

It seems as though there has been a little of the “who came first the chicken or the egg” thing going on with the Social Networks that are being created on the internet landscape. Those that create profiles on social networking websites such as facebook, myspace and even professional networks such as LinkedIn are now using these same sites to foster their personal relationships.
If dating sites weren’t enough then social networks sure seem to be doing the trick. Perhaps those that are uncomfortable posting a profile on a dating site are more comfortable working the internet from a different angle. Facebook allows you to see friends of friends so if you find someone interesting from their pictures or the things they write about often and maybe they might be date worthy and if you already have friends in common than perhaps that’s much easier than meeting a complete stranger.
Online sites such as myspace and LinkedIn are serving a similar purpose with myspace people might see what they really have in common and with profiles on LinkedIn you are able to witness the career orientation of the individual that is in question and what they have done in the past and well as what they plan to do in the future.
So perhaps dating sites will take from this and develop a more meaningful platform where people can have friends and meet and chat more openly than just the straight matter of meeting to make a connection romantically.

There are a few varying phenomenon’s when it comes to converting a dating relationship into one of marriage. A few schools of thought have come up as leaders these days. First, many couples are moving to getting married at a much older age than seen in the past. Many do not see any rush for marriage and children and are much more concerned with their careers and other things in their lives putting marriage and family on the back burners. The second is interesting and almost seems like a contradiction to the first; people that meet in their late twenties or early thirties tend to get married in a much shorter duration of time than those that are dating at a younger age for a longer time.
So, if there is no rush to get married young than why such a rush to get married when you meet someone in a little bit of a later stage in your life? All things aside there seem to be a few running theories to answer these obvious questions.
Firstly, those asked about getting married later in life say that the answer is quite simple, since people are more educated and focused on their careers they are likely to know exactly what they want when getting into a relationship later on in life and therefore do not have to spend years on end investigating whether things will work out or not, they simply go on a few dates and make a decision as to whether they can be with that person or not.
Secondly there are so many dating resources available right now such as internet dating and things of that nature that dating has become a process that is much easier and more flexible than it has ever been in the past.

While the down turning economy may be bad for most industries, surveys show that the recession has proven to be a good thing for many relationships and marriages. Since money is tighter and lavish spending is taking the backseat couples are turning to each other for entertainment.
Gone are the days where weekend getaways were a common occurrence and dinner out with the boys or the girls was a weekly activity. Time to turn to the one you promised your life to and spend some quality time. Talking, watching TV and even renting a movie is now more popular than ever before.
So while there may be a little more to argue about such as spending less and losing a job might be tough but since couples have more time to spend together they are working through their problems instead of turning to another source such as going out with friends to forget about problems or even worse yet turning to another person to “mend” the situation.
While stress is definitely an issue during this time that we are all facing together, who better to turn to than the one you come home to at the end of a busy work day?
There is no shame in learning more about the person you are with whether that has been 5 months or 15 years, so grab a movie, some dinner or a board game and do some real bonding together!
Looks like at least the recession is good for one thing! Now significant others are just hoping that things stay this way when the economy picks up and everything is back to normal!
