Online Dating Conference for 2009

For the last five years there has been a conference that has gathered companies from the online dating industry together in the hopes of discussing advances and exploring the market and opportunities that are associated with a relatively newer industry of online match making altogether.

The Internet Dating Conference will be held in Los Angeles California and will last a total of two days over June 25th and June 26th. This show has raised quite a few heads over the last few years and is considered to be the main event in the industry of online dating and other related sub categories within the industry.

The conference itself is made up of several different components including; web hosting, graphic design, management, business focus, social media, and all other online marketing that is associated with the online dating companies and industry.

There are quite a few companies that are scheduled to attend and exhibit throughout the conference including Google, several highly competitive online dating companies, People Media, mobile companies, and a list of other relative companies as well.

Internet dating has become very popular these days and the stigma surrounding the way to meet others has substantially come down. The conference is called the idate conference and more information on the conference as well as a full list of who will be in attendance can be found at www.idate2009.com.

Taking the Perfect Profile Picture

So here’s the deal: you finally decide to create an online dating profile. You log on to your chosen online dating website and then you come to an area that requests you to upload a photo of yourself of the somewhat recent nature.

What next? Well there are a few options; you could always leave this for later and go out to take some proper pictures that you can upload or you could go through your computer and upload the most extravagant picture of yourself in your best attire.

Here is what we suggest: Go out and take a photo. Follow these next tips and you will be well on your way to properly represent yourself.

No matter whether you are the most or least photogenic person in the world it is important to represent yourself properly. Take a picture that makes you look most like you. There is absolutely no sense in passing along a photo that looks nothing like you because once (if) you meet the other person in person they will not even recognize you and that’s not fair to you or them.

There is a few ways to get a great photo. Concentrate on taking an average photo, make sure there are no distractions in the picture and you are the main focus. Take the picture length wise so that you are the main focus. Take the picture with good lighting, check for weird shadows, dress casually, don’t wear hats, and always smile.

This should get you on your way to a great picture and many interested individuals that you can check out for yourself.

Smelling your way to your Soul Mate

That’s right, you have read it correctly, the newest science in online dating will soon be a smell match to determine your ideal partner. There have been several new developments that are reporting that there is a new test that is currently in the last phases of testing that proves the compatibility of two people based on their body odor.

If you think this sounds a little odd to you, you are absolutely not alone as it sounds odd to us as well. But apparently people are attracted to one another based on smell (as well as many other things of course).

Many online dating websites have said that adding the odor compatibility will be an important part of matching people together and recommending a potential partner to their current user database.

The way to match up is to take a simple swab of your saliva. These kits will be available for purchase around the globe and will be as easy to use as a pregnancy test. Simply run the swab across your tongue or cheek and a color will appear that will indicate your odor type.

How this test works exactly and why the matches are made is still a touch grey, in that we are not sure what the test is fully based on. But doctors and scientists are saying that the nose is quite a sensitive body part and it may be able to tell who you are compatible with.

First Impressions in Online Dating

Often times a first impression can make or break you and unfortunately in the world of online dating making a great first impression can be a very difficult task as the first form of interaction is often an email to stranger that you have never met before.

This brings us to the point of the subject line in an email. The subject line in an email is your first impression when it comes to online dating. So remember that you want this to be a true reflection of what you are actually trying to say or the point that you are trying to bring across.

Think of it this way, if you were applying for a job and you were about to send your resume over because you got the name of the hiring manager from a good friend of yours, would you title the resume “hi”…probably not.

Chances of somebody opening a message that said “hi” are pretty low and the chances of them being interested in this email are even lower. So why not be a little original and say something like “resume from amazing candidate for sales manager” or in this case “a little about me” or something else creative and fun that would catch your attention if you were reading this email.

Just remember there is only one real chance to make a first impression so be yourself and do it right! As long as you can catch their attention you have done the job that you were looking to accomplish from the get go.

Google and Facebook are helping Internet Dating Sites

While there is no direct relationship between the famous Google and Facebook and the many online dating sites that exist, the two entities are doing a great deal in helping some members of online dating sites do all the dirty work when members aim to get a little extra information on their perspective significant others.

Everyone that uses the internet has surely heard of the term “Google it”, well online dating members are doing just that. Before they commit to meeting someone on a first date or giving out personal information over the internet, many are conducting what is there own version of a background check.

The first attempt is most often Google, many people simple type in the name of individual or the company that they claim to work at or other personal information into Google to make sure that the person does in fact exist and they are somewhat what they claim to be.

The second likely check these days has been facebook. Many people look for their new friends on facebook to check who they are associated with, check what type of groups they belong too and even check out a few photos from different angles.

Online daters claim that they are happy that they can do this and feel like they are a little safer meeting these other members knowing that they may know someone in common or perhaps that they actually work where they say they do. This is yet another great example of the internet bringing people closer together!!

Tommy Lee Imposter on Internet Dating Site

As if movie stars and rock stars do not have a enough trouble as it is with paparazzi as well as other forms of stockers and trouble, there is a new type of trouble in town that Tommy Lee has experienced firsthand.

Tommy Lee’s representatives have reported that he claims there is someone out there on the web, in particular on internet dating websites geared for the rich and famous that has created a profile and claims that they are him.

He says that he does not currently have an internet dating profile and thinks that whoever is imitating him has something else coming to them as they will obviously be able to tell the difference once someone has a face to face meeting with the imposter.

There have been many cases of mistaken identity, especially with the internet involved but none like this since Tommy Lee is quite a high profile celebrity and claiming to be him is quite an offense to both him and in legal terms.

The online dating site that the profile was created on is currently not stating whether they are willing to get involved or not and are saying that they are not responsible for those members that are dishonest and take the situation into their own hands.

Dating sites that are made especially for millionaires claim to do detailed background checks into their members to make sure that all members are qualified to be there and are exactly who they claim to be.

Going Rates for Finding Love

With the economy in rough shape these days it’s nice to get something for nothing. Well there is definitely a going rate for love these days, at least when it comes to finding love online. Many online dating sites are offering people a chance to find love for free but others are charging up a storm.

As with everything in life, there seems to be a common misconception that you get what you pay for, but what about those lucky times that a freebie can actually be a good thing?

Well when it comes to online dating you may just be in luck. There are a ton of sites that offer paid memberships to be on the dating database but there are also quite a few that offer the same connection for free.

The free sites are not just there to cater to singles meeting their match but they benefit from being on the web for other reasons such as getting paid advertising and other online connections. So just because a website is offering you a free service does not mean that there is some kind of catch or hidden intention.

There has been a turn in traffic too, now more than before singles that are online log into the free sites much more frequently than they paid sites. So your perfect match may just be waiting for you on the other end of the internet connection.

So take a freebie, sign up, and start chatting away, you never know who you may meet next! And if all ends well then there is nothing better than a story of a free internet romance!

Online Dating becoming Number One Way of Dating

It won’t be long until every single with access to a computer will be an online dater seeking to meet one another. Gone are the days where people were ashamed of meeting another individual online.

Everyone knows that these are the days of the internet. Everything these days is done online. If you are looking for a job chances are you have submitted your resume to a search engine designed to find jobs that match your qualifications. People often go online to order groceries and have them delivered to their home.

If people are doing everything else online than why shouldn’t dating online be at the top of the list? Well the answer to that question seems to follow in line: it is!
So if you were thinking that dating online is out of the norm and you are the only one that is doing it, consider yourself very wrong. Dating online is quite popular everywhere in the world and singles all over the world are giving online romance quite the far shot at love.

Online dating is more popular among those under 50 but even the demographic above that age group is starting to pick up on it and get into the swing of things. People are Using Social Networks for Online Dating

It seems as though there has been a little of the “who came first the chicken or the egg” thing going on with the Social Networks that are being created on the internet landscape. Those that create profiles on social networking websites such as facebook, myspace and even professional networks such as LinkedIn are now using these same sites to foster their personal relationships.

If dating sites weren’t enough then social networks sure seem to be doing the trick. Perhaps those that are uncomfortable posting a profile on a dating site are more comfortable working the internet from a different angle. Facebook allows you to see friends of friends so if you find someone interesting from their pictures or the things they write about often and maybe they might be date worthy and if you already have friends in common than perhaps that’s much easier than meeting a complete stranger.

Online sites such as myspace and LinkedIn are serving a similar purpose with myspace people might see what they really have in common and with profiles on LinkedIn you are able to witness the career orientation of the individual that is in question and what they have done in the past and well as what they plan to do in the future.
So perhaps dating sites will take from this and develop a more meaningful platform where people can have friends and meet and chat more openly than just the straight matter of meeting to make a connection romantically.
