Online Dating Rises in Popularity during Recession
There were several thoughts that online dating was becoming more and more popular but not the stats are confirmed. Online dating is on the rise since the beginning of the recession.
Online dating has been around for a bit of time now, and although it is a new industry in comparison to consumer packaged goods it is still one that people have accepted into their daily lives.
In the UK, online dating has shown some serious pick up since the pickup (or rather down turn) of the recession. From September 2008 until February 2009, a matter of only 5 months, online dating grew by 13% and reached 13% of the online population within the UK.
Reports showed that both men and women were equally as like to partake in the online shopping of significant others. Those that did go online searching for love would spend roughly 4 hours a month doing so at a maximum.
Those that weren’t as keen on the idea but showed at least slight interest spent an hour per month in total.
Online dating is now considered “a safe and interesting way to meet new people” by many of those that were asked to comment on what they thought by choosing a statement that best reflected their opinion on the subject at hand.
