People are Using Social Networks for Online Dating
It seems as though there has been a little of the “who came first the chicken or the egg” thing going on with the Social Networks that are being created on the internet landscape. Those that create profiles on social networking websites such as facebook, myspace and even professional networks such as LinkedIn are now using these same sites to foster their personal relationships.
If dating sites weren’t enough then social networks sure seem to be doing the trick. Perhaps those that are uncomfortable posting a profile on a dating site are more comfortable working the internet from a different angle. Facebook allows you to see friends of friends so if you find someone interesting from their pictures or the things they write about often and maybe they might be date worthy and if you already have friends in common than perhaps that’s much easier than meeting a complete stranger.
Online sites such as myspace and LinkedIn are serving a similar purpose with myspace people might see what they really have in common and with profiles on LinkedIn you are able to witness the career orientation of the individual that is in question and what they have done in the past and well as what they plan to do in the future.
So perhaps dating sites will take from this and develop a more meaningful platform where people can have friends and meet and chat more openly than just the straight matter of meeting to make a connection romantically.
